MI Maizey redesign cover

The problem

MI Maizey is an AI platform that helps University of Michigan students access campus information through conversation. The problem wasn't the technology — it was that students couldn't tell what it was capable of. They didn't know what to ask, and nothing gave them a reason to come back.

What I did

Research showed students wanted personalized academic support, not a smarter search bar. That drove the biggest change: a schedule upload feature that shifted MI Maizey from reactive to proactive, surfacing relevant information before students thought to ask. I also simplified the navigation, tightened the visual hierarchy, and made deliberate accessibility choices — including the Atkinson Hyperlegible typeface.

The outcome

A redesign that gives students a reason to return, and an interface that's legible and navigable for more of them.
