The problem

Michigan Medicine's Interpreter Services SharePoint worked like a document dump. It was organized around internal departments rather than the tasks clinical staff actually needed to complete, which meant people knew what they were looking for but couldn't find it — in an environment where delays affect patient care.

What I did

I led research, information architecture, and key screen design on a four-person capstone team. We ran surveys, interviews, and card sorting with staff. The card sort was the turning point: it showed how users naturally grouped information, which was nothing like how the site was structured. I rebuilt the navigation around tasks instead of internal ownership, surfaced the most-used resources upfront, and tightened the visual hierarchy for fast scanning.

The outcome

Users and stakeholders responded positively in review, describing the new structure as making information feel immediately findable.
